Perfect Saturday

05.05.19 | Shay | No Comments

Happiness to me comes easy – this Saturday was pure joy.

8:40am: Pilates Class

My newest obsession. I’ve found studios in Oakland that I love for the vibe/cleanliness, location, and of course – instructors. BodyRok & XCore. Certainly don’t underestimate the workouts either, it may look easy but these classes have made me sweat more than most. Overall, it’s low impact & tones my body in the right places, and it’s fun! This time, I went to BodyRok although I prefer XCore slightly more.

11:00am: Lake Merritt w/ Verna + Sumo

Sumo brings me so much happiness – all he ever wants in life is to walk outside & spot other dogs nearby. So taking advantage of the beautiful day to take him out is fail-proof joy. Throw in quality time w/ a girlfriend & that’s the icing right there. Verna met up with us & dove into catch up mode w/ work, life, and before you know it, we were off to an adventure!

There was a beautiful, whimsical, Pinterest-esque set up for a Mother’s Day event that we crashed for a few minutes. We met the artist who does the paintings & she gave us the contact information of the event planner who facilitated this whole set-up. Do we hear an excuse to throw a party? I didn’t capture the entire set-up, but imagine a fairytale picnic for beautiful mothers & their toddler daughters dressed in sundresses laughing & taking candid photos.

12:00pm: Lakeshore Farmers Market

Blessed to have a Farmers Market this grand in my city. The Grand Lake Farmers Market was filled w/ everything a millennial can obsess about and then some. For anyone who knows me, I am a kid in a candy store at the following: night markets, flea markets, farmers markets, & street fairs. This place had (not limited to): fresh juices, baked goods of all kinds, mediterranean food, dim sum, fresh produce, homemade goods, and more.

We split a burrata + avocado toast along with fresh smoothies & had a picnic on the grass. PS: Verna’s life pretty much got fulfilled when she ran into her idol & fangirled with Catherine from the Bachelor. Love!

I’m on such a happy high knowing w/ summer already here, there will be more Saturdays like this <3
