A feel good post.
Often times, our days and emotions are dictated by external factors — it may be an email, text, or something we see on social media that can have an impact on our emotions. And sometimes, we share our emotions with those closest to us — if your partner is sad, you’re sad – if your parents aren’t feeling well, you may feel worried or stressed. But when do we ever pause and try to control and manage our own emotions? Rarely right? Let’s talk about a few practices we can take to bring more happiness into our lives.
Write your happy list
Sit down and write a few things that bring you joy in the day, it can be little things. Write it down and find a way to intentionally incorporate it in your everyday. Is it a 30-min yoga session? Is it a bowl of ice cream? Is it soaking in the sun, or enjoying the natural light coming through your room? Is it a fresh cup of coffee? Or taking the time to comb your hair, self-care? Whatever it is, it’s your happy list – prioritize it.
Love your body
Never be ashamed of yourself, learn to love yourself. No rush, though. Loving yourself or learning to love yourself might not come easy (unfortunately) but you are only born into one skin and you are amazing – so take your time, but always be on a journey to love yourself.
Don’t compare yourself to others
Comparison is truly the thief of joy. Having a role model and someone to look up to is great. But when you’re idolizing someone at the expense of loving yourself, it defeats the purpose. Do not compare yourself to others.
Focus on things that truly matter
Your time is precious, and you deserve to live a life that you enjoy and love. Spend your days with people who love you, do what you enjoy, and show gratitude for the blessings you currently have in your life.
Treat others the way you want to be treated
The golden rule. Your words, attitude, actions are powerful – say, act, and do with respect and it will return to you. You attract your tribe. Be the person that you’d want to spend time with. That way, you’ll also attract positive and impactful relationships.
Protect your spirit and potential by limiting your time with negative people.
