I hosted my first official dinner for Thomas & the girls this weekend and the entire process brought me so much joy — I had such a blast brainstorming ideas for the table scape and seeing the food + decor come together.
Thomas’ mom had some chinaware (like this floral dish below) that she saved & it was special being able to finally use it. I purchased additional plates through Amazon that complimented it — the linen napkins, soy sauce flower dish (which I’m so obsessed with), and placemats were also purchased for this dinner, too.
For the sushi, I ordered a sashimi platter from Tokyo Fish Market in Berkeley, CA and it was cut & presented beautifully. [Order: 1/2lb of tuna, hamachi, salmon, & octopus] I simply transferred it onto a stone plate and added a few garnishes (sprouts & lemon) for that special touch.
For the side dishes, I purchased seaweed salad & potatoes from the market. We also enjoyed salad and garlic edamame as appetizers which I purchased from Trader Joe’s.
Dinner was delicious! Better than many sushi restaurants .. dare I say. We caught up with our lives over sashimi hand rolls, truffle salmon, sweet sake & many glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon.
To top it all off, we enjoyed dessert (tiramisu .. our FAVE) from Whole Foods and Paris Baguette. Don’t sleep on Whole Foods dessert, btw. Quality at an affordable price.
I’m already looking forward to another excuse to host 😉
