When my bestie told me she wanted to have her bachelorette in Montréal, my first thoughts were, “Montréal? Where do I start? How’s the nightlife? How did she decide on Montréal and why not Toronto? What’s there to do in Montréal?”
Turns out Montréal is one of the top party cities in Canada! According to our Uber drivers and Google search. And has the highest number of restaurants per Capita in Canada (second in North America after New York), so the restaurant scene is very cosmopolitan with menus from around the world. Swoon
Below was our itinerary & a few reasons why Montréal was such an ideal city for us, a bachelorette party.
The Food
Probably the most difficult decision was narrowing down which restaurants to dine at during our trip. Every meal & restaurant we visited invited us to experience something different whether it was a private dining experience at a grand hotel or in a heated garden patio with live jazz music.
Bar George
Started the weekend with high standards with dinner at Bar George, located in the beautiful Le Mount Stephen hotel. You walk in and you’re immediately captivated by the modern-yet-historical and grand feel of the building, being transported to the 1800’s.
Cuisine: British & Canadian
Highlight: Truffle Risotto
Yoko Luna
Imagine walking though a mirrored entrance past Japanese torii gates, into a 6,000 square foot building inspired by a Japanese Garden — a DJ is in the middle of the room, people are dining, and at 10:00pm, dancers are floating through the restaurant and the building slowly transforms from an elite dining experience to a nightclub. This is Yoko Luna.
Cuisine: Japanese
Highlight: Maki Sushi
Kampai Garden
A more sophisticated restaurant that is low key from the outside, but once you enter you’re welcomed by a hostess, DJ, and lowlight intimate vibes. Small dishes that we did family style but quality bites. Kampai Garden was the perfect dinner before our night out and there were quite a few birthday celebrations happening this night, too.
Cuisine: Japanese
Highlight: Dumplings
Babacool
Babacool is a hip/modern restaurant in Old Montréal that served Mediterranean cuisine. We ordered everything our waiter recommended from the hummus mix plate, shakshouka, cheese cigar, babka French toast, and tuna crudo. Everything was delicious and hit the spot after partying late the night before. However, we might have arrived on an off day for the drinks because the drinks arrived after we finished eating and the quality of the coffees & matcha were watered down so we went to Tommy’s Cafe across the street.
Cuisine: Mediterranean
Highlight: Cheese Cigar
Jardin Nelson
We stopped by Jardin Nelson on a whim after a day out on the boat. After having bottles of Veuve for breakfast, this hearty meal also hit the spot. The day was warm and perfect for this restaurant which has an outdoor terrace with live jazz music. We got our poutine fix here as well!
Cuisine: Creperies, Jazz & Blues
Highlight: Vegetable Lasagna
The Nightlife
Flyjin
Flyjin is a unique nightspot that is part restaurant and part nightclub. We had dinner at Yoko Luna and came here for the night time bottle service and it was packed! Luckily we got bottle service or else we wouldn’t be able to move around much. It was an underground vibe, house music with a resident DJ, and dark room, laser lights night scene. The night escalated and got more fun as the drinker poured; we stayed until the lights came on and let’s just say funny memories that we’ll forever laugh about.
La Voūte
We reserved VIP bottle service at La Voūte for Saturday night and this was also another favorite. Set in a 1920s bank vault, it was an experience from the fun bouncers/staff, walking through the beautiful architecture building, and taking the elevators to a room bumping with music and dancers.
The La Voūte table service staff were amazing, they kept the drinks pouring, danced with us, and were full of hospitality. By the time it was 4am and the lights came on, we wondered where the time went!
The City & The People
To really top it all off, the city and the people were very kind and respectable which was important especially if we’re traveling with all girls. Montréal was a perfect combination of sight-seeing, aesthetic & fun restaurants with delicious, curated menus + cocktails, and poppin’ nightlife scenes.
I had so much with the girls, and the bride had her perfect bachelorette party. I would love to come back one day to experience more of the city & try more foods and bars.
Love, Shayna
